Ironically, the more we twist our bodies into a pretzel, the more we can easily unwind accumulated physical and emotional tension.
In yoga, twisting postures play an integral part in a well-rounded practice and help offset a sedentary lifestyle. They restore a sense of balance in body & mind while creating suppleness, spaciousness and freedom in the spine.
July’s monthly theme is INSPIRATION.
Last week’s focus on ‘free-ing the breath & spine’’ through twisting movements assisted in stretching muscles and tissues in and around the spinal column, releasing held tension.
This restriction and tightness can be caused by unhelpful habitual movement, poor posture & breathing patterns.
Amongst many things, ‘INSPIRE’ also means BREATHE IN / INHALE. Breathwork and the release of tight muscles and tissues surrounding the spine positively impacts the subtle energy lines in the spine: ‘breathing new life’ and vitality (prana) into body & mind.

When we feel inspired we feel motivated, enthusiastic, excited, alive. When we feel un-inspired and un-motivated we lost our spark and sight of our purpose and mission.
Unwinding, untangling and releasing what’s ‘stuck’ and holding us back makes space for clarity, creativity & transformation.
